February 4th – March 11th

Buongiorno lettori! Welcome to The Aqua Bookclub… During this course, students will navigate the story of Aqua alongside its author, analyzing the novel chapter by chapter. Students will have the opportunity to experience the adventure alongside the author’s own analysis in relation to their own reading. Each lesson will dive deeper into the lives and emotions of the characters, giving students a true understanding of the story and priceless insight into its inspiration and meaning.

Aqua tells the story of Valentina, a young Italian woman who travels to Malaysia and is confronted by major issues of the heart in both worlds. Love and loyalty to her friend, Lisa, mean risking the odds to make life and death choices. At the same time, she must grapple with her own truth as she falls fatefully in love with her masculine counterpart, who embodies the Eastern spirituality that will ultimately challenge and fulfill her. In the end, it is exactly where the worlds of West and East meet that the universal languages of love and hope help her to navigate the difficult and often unpredictable path from heart to soul.

This bilingual graded reader (in Italian with an English translation on the facing page) will help intermediate and advanced learners improve their understanding at a leisurely pace, uninterrupted by constant dictionary searches.

*Students can purchase Aqua separately, or together with their registration for the course.*
